Fairfield Prep’s Christian Alvarado and the Jesuits took care of business yet again, as Prep finished fifth as a team with a score of 148. Alvarado was the individual winner with a time of 15:55. Alvarado, who was coming off a win in the SCC championship, led throughout and said he was trying to be aggressive against the tough field.
“I knew there are good runners in this race, like Trevor Hopper (Ridgefield),” he said. “I just tried to do the same thing I did last time and that worked out for me.”
Hopper came in second (16:07) and Xavier’s Zach Williams (16:16) was third.
Amity’s pack running style worked well, as the Spartans finished fourth with a score of 147.
Ridgefield won the event with a score of 60, Danbury placed second (104) and Staples was third (105). Cheshire (163) was seventh and Xavier was 11th (312).
