CIAC officials have decided to postpone today’s Division II boys hockey championship at Ingalls Rink in New Haven.
Here is the official statement from the CIAC – “Due to the forecasted inclement weather for tonight, the Division II ice hockey final has been postponed to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Ingalls Rink.”
Now, there will be a tripleheader of boys hockey championships at Ingalls Rink on Saturday – Division III final, No. 1 E.O. Smith/Tolland vs. No. 2 Masuk, at 10 a.m., Division I championship, No. 1 Greenwich vs. No. 2 Darien, at 2 p.m. and Division II final, No. 4 North Branford vs. No. 2 Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks, at 6:30 p.m.
At the CIAC state championship luncheon at the Aqua Turf on Thursday, CIAC hockey committee chairman Tom Neagle said if the D-II game is postponed, the snow storm will still be monitored to see if it affects the start of the D-III game at 10 a.m. The storm has the potential to affect the travel of the E.O Smith/Tolland co-op team, which has to travel to New Haven from northern Connecticut.
Weather predictions have today’s snow event ending around midnight with temperatures rising on Saturday. Stay tuned to GameTimeCT.com for any further updates.
