Southington 35, Norwich Free Academy 22

SOUTHINGTON >> Vance Upham became his school’s all-time leading rusher with 225 yards on 35 carries and had a touchdown as Southington defeated Norwich Free Academy 35-22 and advance to Class LL semifinals for the fourth-straight season.

Anthony Plantamauro caught two touchdown passes from Will Barmore as Southington took a 14-0 lead and then beat back every NFA attempts to tie with a score of its own.

Jawaun Johnson ran for 179 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 63-yard touchdown pass from Shea McManaway for NFA. McManaway completed 18 of 24 pases for 230 yards.

Southington, ranked No. 4 in the GameTimeCT Top 10, improved to 11-0 and will face Darien in the semifinals at Boyle Stadium Monday for the second-consecutive season. Darien ended Southington’s 31-game win streak in last year’s semifinals with a 49-7 victory.

Darien 29, Greenwich 3

STAMFORD >> Finlay Collins and Nick Green each scored touchdowns and Darien’s defense didn’t allow a touchdown in its 29-3 victory over Greenwich in the Class LL semifinals at Boyle Stadium.

Darien advances to face Southington in the Class LL semifinals at Boyle Stadium. Darien, the No. 1-ranked team in the GameTimeCT/Register top 10, defeated Southington in the same game a year ago, 49-7.

Collins and Green both had sacks along with Quinn Fay. Greenwich had a touchdown run by Kevin Iobbi wiped out due to a penalty, leading to a 20-yard field goal by Zach Moore for the Cardinals’ only points.

Riley Stewart kicked a 26-yard field goal for the Blue Wave as it was running out the clock in the second half.

WINDSOR >> Jakhari Grant completed 13 of 24 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns as top-seeded Windsor rolled to a 52-0 victory over Harding in the quarterfinals at O’Brien Field.

Jason Pinnock added 5 catches for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Tim Gardner ran 12 times for 135 yards and a touchdown. He also caught a touchdown.

Windsor advances to Monday’s semifinals and will face Middletown in a rematch of their Thanksgiving eve finale, won by Windsor.

Killingly 27, Bunnell 7

KILLINGLY >> Spencer Lockwood ran 39 times for 303 yards and scored three touchdowns and had an interception as Killingly rolled to a 27-7 victory over Bunnell at the Killingly Sports Complex.

Lockwood scored from 35 yards and 49 yards out to stake the Redmen to a 14-0 halftime lead. Jacob Gauthier caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Derosier to extend it to 21-0.

Jarrod Davis scored Bunnell’s only touchdown on a 12-yard run early in the fourth quarter. But Lockwood sealed it with a 64-yard run. Bunnell quarterback Mike Castelot was injured late in the game.

Killingly intercepted a pair of passses.

The Redmen advance to their second-consecutive Class M quarterfinal Monday where they will face Hillhouse at Bowen Field in New Haven.

St. Joseph 48, Wolcott 21

WOLCOTT >> Junior Jared Mallozzi caught 5 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns and freshman Jaden Shirden ran for 120 yards and four touchdowns as St. Joseph pulled away from Wolcott in a 48-21 quarterfinal victory at Monroe Field.

Wolcott’s Ray Iorio ran 38 times for 195 yards and scored a touchdown. Steve Urbanski caught two touchdown passes from Michael Polzella.

Mallozzi returned the opening kickoff 75 yards to set up Shirden’s first TD run. But Wolcott rallied to take a 15-14 after the first quarter.

St. Joseph QB Cory Babineau scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Mallozzi to give the Hogs a 28-15 lead at halftime.

Wolcott got within 28-21 on an 8-yard touchdown strike from Mike Pozella to Urbanski in the third quarter. St. Joseph put the game away with 20 fourth-quarter points.

St. Joseph will face Valley Regional/Old Lyme in the semifinals at Blythe Field in Deep River on Monday. It’s the second meeting between the schools since the 2010 semifinals, a 44-7 St. Joseph victory.
