The Connecticut High School Coaches Association will honor 25 coaches as Outstanding Coaches of the Year, an Athletic Director of the Year and announce three special awards at the 55th annual Recognition Dinner on May 9 at 7 p.m. in Kay’s Pier at the Aqua Turf in Southington.
To be honored are Athletic Director of the Year Mark Logan of RHAM High School; Pat Simon will receive the Thomas Monahan CHSCA Honor Award; Larry Dupont will be awarded the Joseph J. Fontana Distinguished Service Award and Michael Barbaro of Town Fair Tire will receive the Joseph Calvanese Sponsorship Award.
The coaches to be honored are: Sal Morello, football, Middletown; Joe Gaetano, boys’ basketball, Sheehan; Kelly Maher, girls’ basketball, Cromwell; Brian Collins, indoor track, Glastonbury; Ann Burrows, girls track, Bloomfield; Paul Steiner, baseball, RHAM; Evan Tuttle, boys’ swimming, Southington.
Gary Wilcox, wrestling, Montville; Matt Diglio, boys cross country, Haddam-Killingworth; Mark Olsen, girls cross country, Thomaston; Ed Crisafi, softball, East Haven; Robert Briones, boys soccer, Norwich Free Academy; Robert Zadrozny, boys golf, New Britain; Dennis Fabian, girls tennis, Staples; Jack Biggs, girls volleyball, East Lyme; John Smachetti, girls’ swimming, Conard.
