Another season, another WNEISWA title for the Brunswick School wrestling team.
The Bruins captured their sixth straight Western New England Independent School Wrestling Association championship Saturday, topping 15 other teams in the 62nd annual tournament, held at Trinity-Pawling School.
Brunswick finished with a team score of 252.5 points, followed by runner-up Trinity-Pawling (185.5) and Greens Farms Academy (176.5).
Hotchkiss School finished fourth (121.5), Hamden Hall was fifth (119) and Hopkins School placed sixth (113).
All 13 of Brunswick’s wrestlers in the tourney advanced to the semifinals. Sophomore Chris Perry won the 126-pound weight class title, junior Luca Errico claimed the 132-pound championship and senior Tim Saunders was the 195-pound winner for Brunswick.
Last season’s WNEISWA Championships saw Saunders win the 184-pound division title and Perry take top honors in the 115-pound class.
Sophomore Nick Bell (145), junior Nadji Ngbokoli (152) and junior Clayton Ostrover (182) placed second in their respective weight classes for Bruins. Freshmen Will McGillvray (106), and Jackson Wolfram (113) each finished third in their weight classes, while senior Dylan Reynolds (170) and junior Howard Powell (285) took fourth in their division for Brunswick.
Freshman Kaden Saad (120) was fifth and senior Harry Fett (160) placed six.
Brunswick will compete at the New England Championships Friday and Saturday at Greens Farms Academy.
