Victorious in three of its four matches, the Brunswick School wrestling team finished second at the Loomis Duals on Saturday at Loomis Chaffee School.
The Bruins defeated Loomis Chaffee, Greens Farms Academy and Lawrenceville School. Their loss came against Northfield Mount Hermon, which won the tournament.
Both the Bruins and Northfield Mount Hermon were 3-0 heading into their match against each other. Northfield Mount Hermon posted a 45-32 victory over Brunswick to win the tournament. Harry Fett recorded a major decision win in his 160-pound match for the Bruins against Northfield Mount Hermon.
Clayton Ostrover of Brunswick pinned Northfield Mount Hermon’s William Cha in the 182-pound match in 49 seconds. Jackson Wolfram (113) of Brunswick pinned his foe in 4:51 and Luca Errico (138) won his match by a 3-1 decision.
Against Lawrenceville, Fett pinned Sam Hensler (1:00) and Dylan Reynolds (Brunswick, 170) won by pinfall over Brandon Li (1:00). Brunswick’s Timothy Saunders won his 195 pound bout by technical fall (17-2), while the Bruins’ Nick Villis (220) pinned Logan Tucker in 36 seconds.
Chris Perry (132) from Brunswick was victorious by technical fall (16-1). The Bruins beat Lawrencevile, 52-30.
In Brunswick’s 54-22 win over Greens Farms Academy, Errico won by major decision (19-6), while teammate Nadji Ngbokoli (152) took his match by pinfall in 1:14. Alex Burdick pinned his GFA foe in 1:51 and Saunders won by pinfall in 1:17.
Jojo McCurdy (126) and Reynolds (182) each pinned their opponents for Brunswick. Greens Farms received pinfall victories from Caleb Seyfriend (106), Nico Provo (113) and Christopher (120). Perry at 132, edged his foe, 2-0.
Against Loomis Chaffee, a 65-15 win for the Bruins, Perry, Errico, Ngbokoli, Fett, Reynolds, Saunders and William MacGillivray (106) each pinned their Loomis Chaffee opponents.
Burdick won his 160-pound match by technical fall, 16-0.
