Brunswick School produced its best finish in program history at the 2019 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships at Franklin Marshall College, placing fourth in the team standings.
The Bruins’ fourth-place finish came at the largest prep school meet in the country — a competition including 30 teams.
On the second and final day of the Eastern Interscholastic Championships on Saturday in Lancaster, Pa., Brunswick junior Marcus Hodgson finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle in a school-record time of 45.26 seconds. Hodgson also earned all-American consideration status with his finish. Teammate Keegan Drew, a senior, was 10th in the 100 freestyle (46.42).
In the 100 backstroke, senior Christian Farricker finished ninth with a time of 50.93, followed by Bruins teammate Cole Pierce (senior, 51.28, 10th).
The 500-yard freestyle saw senior Nico Apostolides place 13th in 4:42.06. Freshman Alex Hazlett was 11th for Brunswick in the 100 breaststroke (59.09). The Bruins’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Farricker, Pierce, Drew and Hodgson concluded a successful weekend by finishing fourth with an all-American time of 3:01.65 — which was also a school-record showing.
