Winning each event, the Brunswick School swimming team raised its record to 3-0 with an 87-73 victory over visiting Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday.
Saturday’s meet began with the Bruins’ 200-yard medley relay team of Cole Pierce, Jack Sparks, Jake Charney and Gavin West placing first in 1:43.39. In the 200-yard freestyle, Nico Apostolides finished first in 1:50.41. Gavin Molloy was the runner-up in 1:53.78.
JP Ohl of gave the Bruins a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:11.96. The 50-yard freestyle saw Keegan Drew touch the wall first in 22.36. Teammate Cole Pierce was right behind in (22.95), followed by Michael O’Malley (23.15).
In the 100 butterfly, Keegan Drew took first in 53.33, while Gavin West won the 100 freestyle for the Bruins in 50.12.
Apostolides was the 500 freestyle winner (5:03.06). The Bruins’ 200 freestyle relay team of Drew, Michael O’Malley, Sparks and Jack Moore posted the top time of 1:33.18. Ohl registered a time of 58.60 in the 100 backstroke, while sparks swam a 1:05.40 in the 100 breaststroke for the Bruins.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Drew, Pierce, O’Malley and Apostolides clocked in at 3:24.74.
The defending U.S. High School Team champion Bruins began their season by defeating rivals Deerfield Academy and Avon Old Farms School Saturday at Brunswick’s Stephens Squash Center.
Nick Spizzirri won at the No. 1 spot for Brunswick against Deerfield, 11-5, 11-9, 11-4. The Bruins beat Deerfield, 7-0. Brian Leonard was an 11-8, 12-10, 11-9 winner against his Deerfield foe at No. 2.
Dana Santry was victorious at the No. 3 position, 11-5, 11-8, 11-3 and Pierce Henderson swept his opponent at the fourth spot, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8.
Mac Aube took a 3-1 decision at No. 5, while Will Jones pulled out a 3-2 triumph at the sixth position. Coulter Mackesy registered an 11-9, 11-3, 13-11 victory at No. 7, while Tad Carney won at No. 8, 3-1.
Against Avon Old Farms, Leonard, Henderson, Aube, Mackesy and Jones were each 3-0 victors. Santry won his match, 3-2.
