Brunswick School and Greenwich Academy each recorded top-10 finishes in the team standings at the NEPSTA Division I Cross Country Championships at Northfield Mount Hermon in Gill, Mass., on Saturday.
The Bruins finished 10th out of 15 teams at the competitive, New England Division I meet. Pacing Brunswick was sophomore Lucas Pombo, who placed 21st overall with a time of 17:36 in the 5,000-meter race.
Junior Charlie Garland was 46th overall for Brunswick, posting a time of 18:31. Matty Goodman, a senior, was 52nd (18:38). Jonny Citron finished the race in 18:47 and Brunswick teammate Chris Ramos clocked in at 18:50.
Matt Farrell of Loomis Chaffee won the race in 15:40. William Coogan of Phillips Exeter Academy was second (15:44). Phillips Exeter Academy was the team champion (57 points), followed by Phillips Academy (88).
On the girls’ side, eighth-grader Maddy Lee of Greenwich Academy earned All-New England honors, placing 19th with a time of 21:04.
Emily Greenhaw, a sophomore, finished 23rd for GA (21:14), while Gators teammate Elena Tan, a junior, was 39th (22:01).
Emily Goodman posted a time of 23:55. Grace Crookenden (26:11) and Sydney Pittignano (27:18) also competed for GA, which saw Chloe Casturo-Burnette posted a personal-record time of 25:26 in the JV race.
GA finished 10th in the team standings in the meet, which saw Phillips Exeter Academy win the meet.
