What started as a two-team match has turned into a four-team exhibition that will be held this Saturday.
The Ralph V. Raffone Memorial Coaches vs. Cancer Tennis Exhibition will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Hall High School. Hall and East Catholic out of the CCC, Weston out of the SWC and Amity out of the SCC will be competing in the exhibition.
The event is in its second year honoring the late father of Amity coach Chris Raffone. His father passed away from cancer in December of 2015. Last season, Amity’s home boys and girls tennis matches against Weston served as the benefit for the American Cancer Society.
On Saturday, it will not count toward the regular-season standings, but exhibition round-robin matches will be held throughout the day, in part supporting the Raffone Foundation and Scholarship Fund along with the American Cancer Society.
Chris Raffone said sponsors Oak Lane Tennis Club, Woodbridge Club , Racquet Koop , Cuts Again and Edge Technology all helped in donating goods, services and proceeds to the cause.
