TOP PERFORMERS

Korey Barber, Shelton: Barber finished first in the 50-yard freestyle for Shelton in its 88-64 win over Seymour, registering a time of 23.34 seconds. The junior also swam the second leg of Shelton’s winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:36.82).

Nicolas Bennett, Hamden: A freshman, Bennett finished first in the 100-yard butterfly in Hamden’s meet against SCC foe North Haven/Guilford.

Jon Cocchiola, Southington: Cocchiola turned in first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (24.07) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.03) for Southington, which recorded a 97-89 win over Hall.

Jack Crocamo, Seymour: The senior gave winning efforts in the 100-yard butterfly (54.99) and 100 backstroke (59.82) in Seymour’s meet against Shelton.

Noah Duncan, Cheshire: Duncan, a junior, was the diving winner for the Rams in their recent matchup against SCC foe Xavier, totaling 246.75 points.

Donald Frost, Xavier: Frost, a junior, finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.74) and 100 butterfly (53.73) for the Falcons in their victory against Cheshire. He also anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay squad (1:31.40) and 200 medley relay team (1:39.58).

Whitaker Grover, Greenwich: The freshman had a first-place finish in the 1-meter diving event for Greenwich versus Wilton, amassing an impressive 291.05 points.

Aidan Henry, North Haven/Guilford: Henry, a senior, notched winning times in the 50-yard freestyle (22.85) and 500 freestyle (4:48.42) for the team, which beat Hamden, 94-80. He also anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay team, which combined for a time of 1:37.35.

Thomas Hoffmeister, Greenwich: Hoffmeister touched the wall first in two individual events for the Cardinals in their triumph against Wilton, placing first in the 50 freestyle (23.23) and the 100 freestye (49.77).

Daniel Kaman, North Haven/Guilford: Kamen, a junior, finished first in the 200-yard freestyle in the team’s victory against Hamden, clocking in at 2:00.01. He also led off the 200 freestyle relay race, which the squad won in 1:37.35.

Sam Lovejoy, Hamden Hall: Lovejoy helped ignite Hamden Hall’s first-ever win against FAA rival Hopkins School. He won the 200-yard freestyle race in 1:50.65, then placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:01.71). Lovejoy also swam the first leg of the Hornets’ winning 400 freestyle relay squad (3:26.60).

Derek Melanson, Southington: The senior took top honors in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.25) and the 100 butterfly (55.40) in Southington’s meet vs. Hall. He also led off the 400-freestyle relay race, which was won by Southington in 3:33.04.

Andrew Mitchill, Xavier: A junior, Mitchill won the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.93) and the 100-yard backstroke for Xavier in its 96-85 victory over Cheshire. Mitchill also helped the Falcons’ 200 freestyle relay team post a first-place time of 1:31.40.

George Moore, New Canaan: The senior diver provided the Rams a winning effort against Fairfield Warde-Ludlowe, registering an eye-opening 330.3 points.

James Ragusa, New Canaan: Ragusa, a senior, placed second in diving for the Rams in their victory against Fairfield Ludlowe-Warde, posting 316.95 points.

Carson Rhodes, Shelton: A junior, Rhodes won the 100-yard freestyle (55.43) in the team’s matchup vs. Seymour. He also led off the winning 400 freestyle relay squad (3:51.75) and sparked the first-place 200 medley relay team (1:49.40).

Connor Skarzynski, Hall: Skarzynski showed his distance swimming skills against Southington, placing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.46 and the 500 freestyle (5:07.39) against Southington.

Marco Todorovic, Greenwich: Todorovic, a sophomore, was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:54.36) and the 500 freestyle (5:16.62) for the Cardinals against Wilton.

Mitchell Wollen, Xavier: Wollen was the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.82) and 100 backstroke (52.92) winner in Xavier’s meet against SCC rival Cheshire. Wollen, a sophomore, was also part of the team’s 200 medley relay (1:39.58) and 400 freestyle relay (3:27.55) squads that finished first vs. Cheshire.

Noah Sam Vincente, Xavier: The sophomore topped the competition in the 500-yard freestyle in a meet against Cheshire, clocking in at 4:51.60. He also swam on two winning relay teams (200 medley, 400 freestyle).

Ethan Woolbert, Hopkins: Woolbert was the 200-yard individual medley winner for Hopkins in its meet against Hamden Hall, touching the wall in 1:59.38. He also won the 100 breaststroke in 59.13 seconds and swam on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:38.66).

MEETS TO WATCH

Darien vs. Norwalk/McMahon, Feb. 12 at Darien YMCA, 7 p.m.: Darien, which was undefeated heading into its big meet against FCIAC rival Greenwich on Thursday, should be tested against an improving Norwalk/McMahon squad.

Daniel Hand vs. Cheshire, Feb. 14, at Cheshire Community School, 7 p.m.: Both teams are, once again, in the midst of successful seasons. The Rams topped Hand in 2019 in a tight meet, 95-83.
