Sebastian Brice, Westhill/Stamford: Brice, a senior, posted a winning time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.95) and was part of the team’s 200 medley relay team that placed first in 1:46.58 against Danbury.
Elyse Boothroyd, Lyman Hall/Coginhaug: Boothroyd finished first on the 1-meter diving board in the team’s meet against Xavier with 217.65 points.
Charlie Clark, Greenwich: Clark finished in a first-place tie in the 50-yard freestyle (22.81) and was part of the Cardinals’ winning 200 medley relay (1:43.00) and 200 freestyle relay (1:35.09) teams. He also placed first in the 100 freestyle (50.64).
Spencer Erickson, Darien: The senior won the 100-yard backstroke in Darien’s meet against Greenwich with a time of 56.34. He also swam on the Blue Wave’s winning 400 freestyle relay squad (3:20.08).
Ben Feldman, Westhill/Stamford: The junior finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (56.25) in Westhill/Stamford’s 102-65 win over Danbury in its season-opening meet. He competed on the team’s winning 200 medley relay squad, which registered a time of 1:46.58.
Donald Frost, Xavier: The sophomore posted first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.94) and 500 freestyle (5:04.09) in Xavier’s season-opening 96-83 win against Lyman Hall/Coginchaug.
Shiva Gowda, Amity: A senior, Gowda won the 100-yard freestyle (52.34) for Amity in its victory against Hamden. He swam on Amity’s winning 200 medley (1:48.08) and 200 freestyle (1:38.04) relay teams.
Tommy Lewis, Greenwich: The junior recorded first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.90) and the 100 backstroke (54.83) in the Cardinals’ 103-65 victory against Wilton. Against Darien, the versatile Lewis touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (22.71) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.28).
Michael McNulty, Greenwich: The senior won the diving event for the Cardinals in their meet vs. Wilton, earning 236.20 points.
Tyler Roy, Amity: Roy won the 50 freestyle (23.17) in the team’s 97-77 triumph against Hamden. The junior began the meet by helping his team’s 200-medley relay squad place first in 1:48.08.
Stephan Todorovic, Greenwich: The senior tied for first in the 50 freestyle (22.81) in Greenwich’s meet vs. Wilton, then won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.29. He helped lead the Cardinals’ 200 medley relay (1:43.00) and 400 freestyle relay (3:26.44) to victory. In Greenwich’s season-opener against Darien, Todorovic won the 200 IM (2:00.48) and the 100 butterfly (52.89).
Karl Wadleigh, Darien: Wadleigh, a senior, placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:46.32) and 100 freestyle (49.26) in Darien’s season opener against Greenwich. He was also part of the 400 freestyle relay squad, which took first-place honors (3:20.08).
Nikita Zuev, Xavier: A freshman, Zuev was the 100-yard freestyle winner (53.31) and touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke (1:03.02) in the team’s season-opening meet.
MEETS TO WATCH
Darien at Staples, Friday (Jan. 4), 4 p.m.: This meet featuring the Wreckers, who finished third at the 2018 State Open and the Blue Wave (sixth at last season’s State Open) should have a lot of fantastic finishes.
Westhill/Stamford at Norwalk/McMahon, Friday (Jan. 4), 3:30 p.m.: A good early-season test for both squads, which finished among the top-15 in the team standings at last winter’s State Open Championships.
Darien vs. Wilton at Wilton YMCA, Jan. 10, 3:40 p.m.: This matchup of FCIAC teams should be pretty close, with both squads possessing strong top-tier swimmers.
Cheshire vs. Glastonbury at Cheshire Community Pool, Jan. 11, 7 p.m.: Both squads return a lot of competitors from last season, which saw Glastonbury place eighth at the State Open and Cheshire finish 12th.
New Canaan at Greenwich, Jan. 11, 4:30 p.m.: It’s always a meet to watch when the Cardinals and the Rams test their skills against each other. The FCIAC rivals have had some close meets in the past and Greenwich already passed an early-season test against Darien.
