Notre Dame-Fairfield boys hockey coach Steve Hetherman looks forward to each season with the challenges he and his players face with the Lancers’ tough schedule. But one part of the schedule that the Lancers have looked forward to in recent seasons is the challenge of the annual Lancers Beanpot Tournament hosted by Notre Dame-Fairfield.
“It’s a great opportunity for our team to improve and develop by playing some talented teams from Maine, New Jersey and Rhode Island,” Hetherman said.
The Lancers invite three out-of-state teams to compete in semifinals and then a championship game and consolation game with all games held at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
This season’s edition kicks off Friday (Jan. 13) with semifinals. Notre Dame-Fairfield will face St. Dominic’s of Maine at 7 p.m. St. Peter’s Prep of New Jersey will face Prout High of Rhode Island at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, the consolation game will be held at 3 p.m. wit the championship at 5 p.m.
It should be noted that 14 of the Lancers’ players are from the New Haven area.
