Anthony DiLungo, a forward on the East Haven Haven hockey team in the mid 1980s who was among the most prolific scorers and playmakers in the CIAC at the time, died Wednesday, East Haven athletic director Anthony Verderame confirmed.
DiLungo was All-Housatonic in 1985 and 1986, selected for the New Haven Register All-State team in 1986 and was a high school All-American. He became a certified CIAC coach and was a East Haven assistant coach for several years. He was also a member of USA Hockey.
DiLungo, who graduated from East Haven in 1986, was the leading scorer for the Easties for three straight seasons. He finished his career with 71 goals and 128 assists and led East Haven to the CIAC Division I quarterfinals in 1985 and 1986. His brother Butch DiLungo is a longtime East Haven assistant hockey coach.
Anthony DiLungo, who was inducted into the East Haven High Hall of Fame in 2003, also played at Quinnipiac.
