Tuesday just wasn’t Ridgefield’s night.
First, the Tigers let slip a 14-point lead at home against Westhill. And, if that wasn’t rough enough, the Tigers ultimately lost when junior guard Chris Longo’s 3-point attempt to tie the game at the buzzer instead got wedged between the rim and the backboard, giving Westhill the 44-41 victory.
Let’s call that an anti-#TweetYourBuzzerBeater.
The loss dropped Ridgefield’s FCIAC record to 7-4, which remained good enough for fourth place in the overall league standings, but dangerously close to a horde of other playoff contenders like Warde (7-5), McMahon (7-5), Greenwich (6-4), Ludlowe (5-4) and even Westhill.
Westhill, which was in danger of falling out of the the hunt until Wednesday’s buzzer-beating victory over St. Joseph, has now won two consecutive games and finds itself back in hunt for an FCIAC playoff spot at 6-5.
Watch the insane finish, above, thanks to footage from Stamford Advocate’s Scott Ericson.
