Only one division race has been decided in the Southern Connecticut Conference: Career has clinched the Oronoque with an 8-0 record.
Hillhouse (Hammonasset) and Cheshire (Housatonic) have both clinched ties for the division crowns. Hillhouse can win it outright Monday by beating Foran, then go undefeated for the ninth straight season in division play by beating Guilford Tuesday.
Cheshire doesn’t resume division play in the Housy until Feb. 18 against Sheehan. But Sheehan can help Cheshire back into the title by beating Shelton Tuesday.
In the Quinnipiac, Fairfield Prep holds a one-game lead over Xavier. The two teams square off Tuesday night in Middletown. If Prep wins, it clinches outright. If Xavier wins, it clinches at least a tie.
This could be the first time in the 20-year history of the SCC that every division winner went undefeated, even when the Oronoque Division had not yet been created.
Twelve teams have already clinched berths in the league tournament that begins Feb. 27: Fairfield Prep, Xavier, Career, Wilbur Cross, Hillhouse, Cheshire, Notre Dame-West Haven, West Haven, Guilford, Hand, Shelton and Branford. All teams that win eight games qualify for both the SCC and CIAC state tournaments.
