Things are much clearer for the Southern Connecticut Conference tournament, which begins Thursday at the site of the higher seed. Only one game left today impacts the standings.
If Notre Dame-West Haven wins at home against West Haven, not only do the Green Knights finish the regular season 20-0 and receive a first-round bye, but the first-round matchups will be as follows Thursday at 6:30 p.m.:
No. 15 Sheehan at No. 2 Hillhouse; No. 14 Xavier at No. 3 Hamden; No. 13 North Haven at No. 4 Wilbur Cross; No. 12 Branford at No. 5 Amity; No. 11 Fairfield Prep at No. 6 Guilford; N. 10 West Haven at No. 7 Career; and No. 9 Cheshire at No. 8 Shelton.
If West Haven pulls the upset, the two matchups that change are No. 10 Cheshire at No. 7 Career and No. 9 Shelton at No. 8 West Haven.
Westbrook has clinched the top seed in the Shoreline Conference. Old Saybrook has the inside track to earn the No. 2 seed, but East Hampton still has a chance at it. Coginchaug, Haddam-Killingworth, Creed, North Branford and Crowmell should fill out the rest of the field, which won’t be officially determined until Friday night with games still being played both Thursday and Friday.
The quarterfinals are scheduled to begin Saturday at the higher seed.
The South-West Conference tournament begins Friday. Defending champion Notre Dame-Fairfield has locked up the top seed. Bethel, Bunnell, Pomperaug, Weston, Immaculate and Brookfield have clinched berths. Tonight’s Newtown at Stratford game will determine the eighth and final seed.
