Hillhouse and Wilbur Cross will be a part of the first MLK Classic, a quadrupleheader which will be held Monday at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.
The Academics will face Bridgeport Central in the nightcap at 6 p.m. in a matchup of the last two teams to end the season No. 1 in the final Register/GameTimeCT Top 10 poll. Cross faces Harding at 2 p.m.
In the 4 p.m. matchup, Sacred Heart, the current No. 1 team, faces Notre Dame-Fairfield at 4 p.m. The day starts with Bassick vs. Kolbe Cathedral at noon.
“We took our cue from the (New York) Knicks, who always play on Martin Luther King Day,” said Charlie Dowd, the senior vice president of operations at Webster Bank. “We are very bullish on high school sports here, so hopefully, it’s the start of a good tradition.”
Tickets are just $10 in advance and are being sold at the arena and at all of the participating schools. Tickets are $12 next Monday. No tickets will be sold online or by phone.
