WINDSOR – Despite losing by double-digits to Windsor on Wednesday afternoon, no one is counting out Wethersfield’s baseball team.
“I think we have a lot of talent,” Wethersfield star center fielder Jimmy Sullivan said. “When we play well we can be a very tough team to beat.”
The thing is, the Eagles, who came into the game unbeaten, didn’t play well against Wednesday and they lost in five innings to the Warriors who also came into the game unbeaten.
But Wethersfield still has the talent with the senior Sullivan going to play at the University of Virginia next season.
“Every time (he’s) up you know he is going to put a good swing on it,” Wethersfield head coach Mark Bagdasarian said. “He has a really good chance to hit the ball hard no matter who he is facing. It’s good he is on our team and not the others.”

Bagdasarian also has two other Division I baseball players in his lineup with starting shortstop Tyler Note going to Fairleigh Dickinson and ace pitcher Tim Blaisdell staying in state to pitch for the University of Hartford.
Despite all their talent and their 4-1 start to the season, Bagdasarian believes that the 33-team league, which does not host a conference tournament, possesses a ton of talent across the board.
There is no one true favorite.
“There’s a lot of balance,” Bagdasarian said. “Baseball, as a whole, there is a lot more parity than there used to be. Berlin and Plainville, who are traditional the cream of the crop here, but whether it’s that there is more parity or teams are catching up to them. It’s a good division and it should be a lot of fun.”
Bagdasarian mentioned teams like Northwest Catholic, led by Corey Carlson and ace pitcher Luke Fox, and South Windsor, led by pitchers Zach Donahue and William Nowak.
Windsor coach Joe Serfass agreed that South Windsor is a very good team. He added that Hall, with pitcher Chase Jeter, and New Britain, with pitcher Will Homer, aren’t easy opponents. Platt has proven hard to beat, especially when Fairfield commit Carson Coon is on the mound.

“There are a lot of good teams in the CCC,” Serfass said. “It’s baseball and you got to show up every day ready to play no matter who you are playing.”
Through the early part of the season South Windsor, Manchester and Windsor remain unbeaten at 5-0, followed by East Hartford (5-1) and Windsor (4-1).
“There is us, Wethersfield, Northwest Catholic, East Catholic, Simsbury, Glastonbury,” Windsor senior Jeremy Nuns said. “There are so many different team with so much talent. It’s competitive and that’s what I love about it.”
East Catholic (5-2) has won five straight after starting the season with two losses. Newington (4-2), is on a four-game win streak.
“Overall the CCC is strong,” Serfass said. “Every year there might be a team that might be better than they were last year, so you have to watch for a lot of teams.”
