JEWETT CITY — Ryan Bakken threw three touchdown passes, including the winning 54-yard strike to Daniel Annibalini and 2-point conversion pass with 48 seconds remaining as Waterford defeated Griswold 21-20 in an ECC interdivisional game Monday night.
Bakken’s pass bounced off Annibalini’s chest and fell back into his arms for the winning score.
Griswold wasn’t finished, however, and marched back down the field behind quarterback Andrew Koziol.
With 7 seconds remaining, C.J. Mattison pulled the Wolverines within 21-20 on a 1-yard run, but his subsequent 2-point conversion run was short. Waterford recovered the onside kick to secure the win.

The game was delayed for 20 minutes as Waterford sophomore Sam Menders, who had caught a touchdown pass late in the first half and also served as Waterford’s kicker was taken by ambulance after suffering a hit with 6 minutes, 39 seconds remaining.
Annibalini hauled in two touchdown passes for the Lancers (2-2), who were winless last season. Mattson finished with a pair of scores and a 2-point conversion run, but Griswold fell to 2-2.
