Anthony Lucibello has resigned as East Haven’s football coach for personal reasons, school principal Vincent DiNuzzo confirmed Friday.
DiNuzzo said the school received Lucibello’s resignation letter Thursday.
Assistant Jim Vicaro has been named Lucibello’s replacement. Vicaro coached the team in its 40-7 loss to Foran on Thursday night.
“‘Personal reasons’ is the crux of what his resignation letter said,” DiNuzzo said. “Frankly, we’re moving forward. He’s stepped down and our focus at East Haven now is ensuring that our kids finish the season on a positive note.”
Citing family commitments, Lucibello declined to speak when contacted by the New Haven Register.
Lucibello was in the middle of his second season as East Haven’s football coach. He was 4-14, including a 2-5 mark until his resignation.
