CIAC 2018 FALL CHAMPIONSHIP SCOREBOARD

CLASS LL

No. 12 DARIEN (17-6) vs. No. 10 AMITY (17-5)

When: 10 a.m.

Where: East Haven High School

Broadcast: NFHS Network (Subscription Required)

Championship game appearances: Darien is making its 19th championship game appearance, third in LL. Darien has won 17 state titles, falling only to East Lyme in its 2010 Class L title game appearance. Amity is making its 17th appearance in a state title game, second straight in Class LL after 15 appearances in Class L. Amity has won 10 state titles, its last coming in 2003, which prior to last year’s LL loss to Greenwich was the Spartans last finals appearance.

You should know: Despite 36 combined championship appearances, this is the first time the two powerhouses have met.

CLASS L

No. 2 BARLOW (21-1) VS. No. 1 WOODSTOCK ACADEMY (21-0)

When: 1 p.m.

Where:  East Haven High School

Broadcast: NFHS Network (Subscription Required)

Championship game appearances: This Barlow’s seventh appearance in a championship match. The Falcons are looking for their first state title. Barlow has three losses in finals to RHAM (2007, 09, 10) and back-to-back losses to Morgan (1995-96). Woodstock Academy is making its third appearance, and second straight in Class L. 

You should know: Woodstock’s state championship appearance last season was its first since 1967, when volleyball was a winter sport in CIAC.

Championship game appearances: This is Weston’s fourth championship appearance and first since 1979. Weston is seeking its first state title. This is Seymour’s fourth state title match appearance. The Wildcats won a Class M title in 2016.

CLASS S

No. 15 LYMAN MEMORIAL (14-8) VS. No. 4 COVENTRY (20-4)

When: 7 p.m.

Where: East Haven High School

Broadcast: NFHS Network (Subscription Required)

Championship game appearances: This is Lyman Memorial’s fifth appearance, all since 2013. Lyman Memorial defeated Hale Ray in 2016 for its only title. Coventry has appeared in 12 state championship matches, all since 2003, winning 11, including in 2017.

You should know: This is the third state championship meeting between the two. Coventry won both meetings, in 2017 (3-1) and 2015 (3-2). Coventry’s lone loss in a championship match was to Morgan in 2005.
