Nice work…. Well done Joe and Game time
Congratulations to all on a great season!
This season exposed some truly talented players throughout the State.
I really enjoyed seeing Solomon and Gaiter play this year. Two truly exceptionally well prepared players.
Pretty amazing how Immaculate can only get 1 guy on this list. (On third team) they go and win div 2 championship with only one guy? You can’t tell me they don’t have another guy that deserved to be at least HM. If that’s the case that pretty amazing by immaculate.
How does Brenden McNamara not even get an honorable mention??? He was a top 5 fciac player for two years in a row. That’s a big miss
Tom,a lot of times you have to put the blame on the coaching staff for not promoting their players. For my money,SPB and Joe Morelli are the best this state has to offer. They spend countless hours to get this right. Will it be perfect of course not but trust me their is no one better. As I just now look
Tom Price,as I analyze this list a little deeper more kudos to Joe Morelli for recognizing the Shelton guard.Talk about a big miss the kid didn’t even make the SCC all league team.I have seen him a half a dozen times the last two years vs my sons team and trust me this kid top 10 in league now as a junior.I heard he averaged 20 points a game playing with extremely young team this season.Ironically, same kid who knocked out Brendan and Ridgefield at buzzer last season.I guess he got no love from his coaches either.Hang in There Brendan had great career and the sun will shine tomorrow
Congrats to those recognized…BUT, how does Shane Henderson from Old Saybrook not get Honorable Mention. First Team All State (D 5) and First Team All Conference. Leading scorer in conference. Another big miss.
Archer was very impressive, if I was picking a team, he’d on my first team. He will be next year for sure. D. Jackson also deserves a first team placement.
JADON ARCHER ENFIELD
Stats the 6.2 Jr averaged 28.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.5 assist, and 3.8 steals per game. Finished the season with 714 points reaching his 1000 point in two years. Averaged 41 points and 10 rebounds while leading Enfield to semi finals in the state tournament.
Honors selected first team All State by coaches. All CCC first team. Finished top 10 by coaches for player of the year.
Off The Court volunteers at multiple clinic’s in Enfield.
Someone explain to me why he is not on the first team?
Archer v. Dev should be fun next year. Their coaches stated that they wanted to play in the regular season.
I posted 2 comments with Archer’s stats. I don’t see them. The kid averaged 41 points and 10 Rebs in the states. Has that ever been duplicated?
In the end it’s a team sport. No one from Cromwell on 3 teams. State Championship would be traded by most.
sorry, who determines this list?
“get over it, no one’s gonna care about any of this in 4 years”
:)
right back at ya. absolutely true “no one’s gonna care about any of this in 4 years”…but I’m still interested in knowing how this list is pulled together.
…for example, if it’s one or two people who pretty much determine the list, that’s not saying much. it should just be based on stats pure & simple. also accolades should have nothing to do with what team you’re on as that is not within the control of anyone. accolades should be based on pure individual talent. the way things are structured now doesn’t really allow for that because many kids who could be plenty talented never get to play on a big stage if they don’t come from a LL school or if there parents can’t afford to send them to a prep school where the odds are stacked in their favor.
As Tom Price asked, how is MacNamara from Ridgefield not even honorable mention? That’s a big oversight.
there should just be a first team, the all state recognition is too watered down when you recognize every player that averaged 12 points or more…
I agree with Lowry….too many players….waters down the honor….when I was growing up in the late 1950s and early 60s….there was just five on first team, five on second team and then honorable mention….it’s almost like everyone gets a trophy……..
Mike agree with your point on average per game. The cutoff at worst should be about 17 PG.There are only about 75 players on here and that is statewide so I have no problem with the numbers. For petes sake the FCIAC takes about that many for their all league teams.LOL
Stop awarding players on good teams solely because they win. There are players that have great bodies of work, put up a lot of numbers but because of their league/division/team they are only honorable mention or nothing at all. Kid Max from Bunnell was a beast and had a better year than a number of kids on teams 1-3.
15ppg and 5 rebounds cannot truly be regarded as an all state level.
2005-2006 season NH register all state had 12 players from division 1-4.
Mike,
Max’s omission is absolutely a fair criticism. But I also picked those teams in 2005-06. No matter how you go about picking the teams, most everyone here who reads, critical or not, would select most of the same players. Then the final 3-4 would differ throughout.
No matter what criteria you use, much like the last cuts for a coach, those decisions are usually not easy. Maybe they would be from you from the outside looking in. Maybe not.
