Player of the Year
Stats: Went 27-0 with a 0.38 ERA for the Class L and ECC champions. Struck out 232 batters and walked just 12 in 129 innings. Batted .400 with an on-base percentage of .545. Also led the Falcons to the Class L title in 2014 and an appearance in the Class L championship game in 2015.
Honors: An All-ECC and a Class L coaches all-state selection. Two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year.
Off the field: Salutatorian of her senior class, member of the student government. Was also an All-ECC selection in volleyball.
Up next: Will play at Princeton University.
Coach of the Year
Kristine Botto Drust
Stats: Guided the Rams to a 27-0 record, the Class LL state championship, the SCC tournament championship and the SCC Housatonic Division championship. Has a career record of 68-10 in three seasons at Cheshire.
Honors: Named the SCC, Class LL and Umpires Association coach of the year.
Cheshire, Jr., P
Honors: Class LL coaches and an All-SCC selection. Named the SCC Player of the Year. Selected to play in the junior all-star game.
NFA, Jr., P
Stats: Had an earned run average of 0.67, allowed just 16 earned runs and 25 walks, struck out 311 batters and opponents hit just .127 off her. Batted .404 with 40 hits, including six doubles, two triples and two home runs for the Wildcats, who advanced to the ECC tournament championship game and the Class LL state semifinals.
Honors: An All-ECC and a Class LL coaches all-state selection.
Westhill, Sr., OF/P
Stats: Hit .568 with 46 hits, including 15 doubles, eight home runs, one triple and 18 stolen bases. In the postseason alone, Gambino had 13 hits, including six doubles, along with five stolen bases. Also won two games, saved 10 and struck out 49 in 38 innings.
Honors: An All-FCIAC and coaches all-state selection.
Seymour, Sr., P
Honors: An All-NVL and coaches all-state selection, named the NVL Pitcher of the Year. Received the sportsmanship award from the Federation of Softball Umpires of Greater New Haven.
Off the field: Salutatorian of her senior class, National Honor Society, also competed in swimming.
Up next: Will play at Bucknell.
Amity, Sr., P
Stats: Won 17 games, struck out 245 batters in 136 innings, had an earned run average of 0.750 and held opponents to a batting average of .140. Hit .333 with nine RBIs.
Honors: An All-SCC and Class LL coaches all-state selection. Selected to play in the senior all-star and scholar athlete all-star games.
Up next: Will attend UConn.
Holy Cross, Jr., P
Stats: Went 20-3 with a 1.21 ERA and struck out 258 batters in 150 innings for the Class S champions. Has struck out 634 batters in her career. Hit .424 with 39 hits, including seven doubles, six triple and two home runs, and had 36 RBIs and 32 runs. Has 102 career hits.
Honors: An All-NVL and Class S coaches all-state selection. Was named the MVP of the Class S championship game and selected the CO Sports Academy Player of the Year.
East Haven, Sr., SS
Stats: Batted .443 with five home runs, a slugging percentage of .826 and an on-base percentage of .563. Hold the school record for career hits (155). Has a career batting average of .475 and a career fielding percentage of .960.
Honors: A two-time All-Area and coaches all-state selection, three-time All-SCC pick.
Off the field: National Honor Society, Class Vice President.
Up next: Will attend the University of Bridgeport.
Lauralton Hall, Sr., P
Stats: Went 20-6 with an 0.975 ERA, struck out 245 batters in 172.1 innings for the Crusaders, who advanced to the SCC championship game and to the Class L quarterfinals. Batted .319 with 30 hits, including six doubles, two triples and two home runs and 17 RBIs.
Honors: A two-time All-SCC selection and a Class L coaches all-state pick as a senior. Selected to play in the senior all-star game and the all-star game against the Brakettes.
Up next: Will enroll as a post-graduate at Deerfield Academy.
Southington, Sr., 3B
Stats: Batted .404 with 28 RBIs, 23 hits and 18 runs and an on-base percentage of .474 for the Blue Knights, who went 20-2 and advanced to the Class LL semifinals. Finished her career as a three-time Class LL champion and was named the Class LL championship game MVP in 2013.
Honors: A three-time All-CCC selection and a Class LL coaches all-state pick.
Off the field: Member of DECA and the math team. Also played basketball.
Up next: Will play at Boston College.
St. Joseph, Sr., P
Stats: Went 24-2 with an 0.60 ERA, struck out 323 batters, tossed two no-hitters and 14 shutouts for the Cadets, who won the FCIAC title and advanced to the Class M semifinals. Batted .382 with 29 hits an 19 RBIs. Finished her career with 102 hits.
Honors: A four-time All-FCIAC selection and a three-time coaches all-state pick. Selected to play in the senior all-star game and the all-star game against the Brakettes.
Up next: Will play at Manhattan College.
Fitch, Jr., C
Stats: Hit .473 with 35 hits, including five home runs, a slugging percentage of .905 and an on-base percentage of .513 for the Falcons, who won the Class L and ECC titles.
Honors: An All-ECC and a Class L coaches all-state selection.
Off the field: Also played basketball. Ranks fourth in her junior class.
Up next: Has committed to play at Bucknell.
