Most Valuable Player
Cheshire, Sr., Attack
Stats: Scored nearly three quarters of the team’s goal the first third of the season. Ended up with 63 goals and three assists last season and ended up as the team’s seventh all-time scorer with 153 goals and 14 assists.
Honors: Two-time All-Area, first team All-SCC and All-State pick, SCC Player of the Year, All-SCC Academic team, selected for Senior All-Star game.
Off the field: Member of Best Buddies Club and played field hockey since her sophomore year.
Up next: Will play lacrosse at Endicott College.
Coach of the Year
Stats: After losing the first game of the season, the Hornets went on a 12-game win streak and advanced to the CIAC Class M semifinals, the furthest they ever advanced in the tournament. The Hornets ended up 16-4, 8-1 in the SCC, scored 272 goals overall (14.3 per game average) and tallied 105 assists (5.5 per game).
Off the field: Ceccolini teaches third grade at Booth Hill School in Trumbull. Runs a lacrosse camp for the town of Branford. Played lacrosse for Branford from 2000-2003. Went on to play lacrosse at Springfield College.
Haddam-Killingworth, Jr., Midfield
Stats: SHad 93 goals, 47 assists and 140 draw controls. Holds the school record for most career goals with 261 and single-game school record with 11 goals in a win over Valley Regional.
Honors: First team All-Shoreline Conference and coaches all-state, All-Area selection for field hockey.
Off the field: High honor roll student and member of the student council.
Up next: Has already committed to play lacrosse at UMass.
Hopkins, Sr., Midfield
Stats: Led the Hilltoppers with 43 goals and 17 assists. Finished career with 102 goals and 46 assists.
Honors: The North Haven resident is a two-time All-Area selection, three-time NEPSAC All-Star pick, member of the New England Challenge All-Star team, won the Hopkins girls lacrosse award.
Off the field: Also was captain for the field hockey and girls basketball teams, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Sports for Service.
Up next: Will play lacrosse at Colby.
Branford, Sr., Attack
Stats: Had 62 goals, including 11 hat tricks. Scored six goals in a game twice in wins over Amity and Lauralton Hall.
Honors: First team All-SCC and All-State, SCC Scholar Leader award.
Off the field: National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, World Language National Honor Society, Bob Dow Scholar-Athlete Award and Scholarship, also plays soccer, volunteer counselor at Camp Totokett and a competitive Irish Step Dancer.
Up next: Will attend the University of Vermont.
Sheehan, Sr., Attack
Stats: Had 74 goals, 13 assists and led the Titans to a 15-3 record and to the CIAC Class M quarterfinals. Also scored her 100th career goal last season. Scored eight goals in a game twice this season in wins over Law and Hamden.
Honors: First team All-SCC selection.
Off the field: Captain of the volleyball team and member of the Italian Club and Peers Supporting Peers.
Hand, Sr., Defense
Stats: The No. 1 shutdown defender on the team caused 17 turnovers, had 13 ground balls and won 28 draw controls.
Honors: Two-time first team All-SCC and first team All-State pick.
Off the field: Captain of the lacrosse and girls soccer teams, volunteer coach for the lacrosse and field hockey youth programs in Madison.
Up next: Will play lacrosse and field hockey at Kenyon College.
North Branford, Jr., Attack
Stats: Had 48 goals and 49 assists. Finished career with 116 goals and a school-record 75 assists.
Honors: First team All-Shoreline Conference and coaches all-state for both girls lacrosse and field hockey. Selected for the Super Juniors Girls Lacrosse All-Star game.
Off the field: In addition to lacrosse and field hockey, she also plays ice hockey.
Guilford, Sr., Midfield
Stats: Had 64 goals, 14 assists, 38 ground balls and 42 draw controls. Finished her career with 133 goals, 62 assists, 129 ground balls and 139 draw controls.
Honors: All-SCC second team pick in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Off the field: Member of the school’s volleyball team and dance team.
Hopkins, Sr., Attack
Stats: The New Haven resident finished her career as the leading points scorer every season for the Hilltoppers. SHad 76 points this season (42 goals, 34 assists) and ended up with 200 career points (127 goals, 73 assists).
Honors: Two-time All-Area, New England Prep School Athletic Conference All-Star.
Off the field: Graduated cum laude, also played girls soccer and girls basketball.
Up next: Will play lacrosse at Bates.
Branford, So., Midfield
Stats: Had 62 goals and 32 assists and led her team to a 15-4 record and the CIAC Class M semifinals. She also excelled on draws, ball possession and the transition phase of the game.
Honors: First team All-SCC and All-State, played on the Connecticut team at the National Tournament.
Off the field: High honors, World Language National Honor Society, member of the Physics Club and Pottery CLub and a volunteer at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Cheshire, Jr., Goalkeeper
Stats: Had a .562 save-percentage and 7.05 goals-against average in leading the Rams to a 14-6 overall record. Had 181 total saves with a career-high 17 saves against Conard.
Honors: First team All-SCC, second team all-state and a member of the Super Juniors All-Star team.
Off the field: Volunteer for B.R.A.V.E. (Bringing Remembrance To All Veterans Everywhere), Peer Advocate, Relay For Life student ambassador.
West Haven, Jr., Midfield
Stats: Had 50 goals and 27 assists and 103 career goals and 72 assists. Her best game was in a 15-12 win over Foran when she scored eight goals.
Honors: First team All-SCC and second team All-State. Team captain this season and also selected captain for next season. Received the Rotary Club Scholar Athlete award.
Off the field: Member of the National Honor Society and named Register All-Area for girls soccer the last two seasons.
Hand, Sr., Midfield
Stats: Had 51 draw controls, 50 goals, 35 assists, caused 20 turnovers and had 27 ground balls. Scored the tying goal to send Hand into overtime against Cheshire in the SCC tournament final.
Honors: The captain was first team All-SCC and All-State and was an All-Area field hockey selection.
Off the field: Honor student.
Up next: WIll play Division I lacrosse at Central Connecticut State.
Hand, So., Attack
Stats: Led team in goals (61) and assists (38). Scored the game-winning goal with a second to go in a win over Branford and scored the game-winning goal in overtime in an 11-10 win over Cheshire in the SCC tournament final. Had four goals and seven assists in a 19-15 win over Lauralton Hall in the SCC semifinals.
Honors: First team All-SCC and All-State and named the SCC tournament most outstanding player.
Off the field: Also plays soccer, is a USSF Soccer Referee and honors student.
Up next: Has already committed to play lacrosse at UConn.
Lauralton Hall, Junior, Midfield
Stats: Had season school records for both goals (97) and points (144) and added 47 assists. Also had a season record of 135 draw controls won and owns career school records for goals (224), assists (117) and points (341).
Honors: First team All-SCC and All-State, Team MVP, National Honor Society, high honors student, named captain for next season.
Off the field: A youth lacrosse official, volunteer for the Sundance Film Festival, also plays field hockey.
Up next: Has committed to play at Cal-Berkeley.
