YOU SHOULD KNOW
Hillhouse is in search of its sixth state title and first since 2012. The Academics have won in the last three state finals they have played in. Hillhouse has lost only to Fairfield Prep this season.
The Academics thrive on running the ball. Brehon has carried 138 times for 1,785 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. But Brehon is not the only threat out of the backfield. Senior David Harris has rushed 109 times for 863 yards and seven touchdowns and senior Shawn Ogarro has gained 648 yards and seven touchdowns on 74 carries.
Overall, Hillhouse has rushed for 3,995 yards (an average of 333 yards per game) and 41 touchdowns. The offensive line is led by Oliver, senior Moise Cisse and junior Jaavon Brown, who were all selected to the all-SCC Division II/III team.
Junior quarterback Quintus Reid doesn’t throw much but does an effective job of piloting the offense. Reid has thrown for 587 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kinzly has caught a team-high 24 passes, including nine for touchdowns.
The Academics are allowing just 17.7 points per game. The defense is led by junior Prince Boyd (106 tackles), Ogarro (79 tackles), Brown (74 tackles), Brehon (75 tackles) and Sims (63 tackles). Boyd has made 13 sacks, while Sims has recorded nine. Kinzly leads the team with three interceptions.
St. Joseph is in search of its 13th state title and fifth since 2009. The Hogs have won 12 consecutive title games when it has reached the final. St. Joseph has lost only to Class LL finalist Darien and to crosstown rival Trumbull.
