Too bad x couldn’t win that game. No.scoring in this game other than pemberton and Jackson and cross had a triangle and 2 on them w a back up defender sitting in the paint incase Jackson and mberton beat their defenders. X looks to have taken a step backwards

  2. Fan says

Pemberton is a D2 athlete at the most. He cant hit a shot with defense on him. All he did was shoot free throws all night. Cross is not even ranked

  3. wilton davis says

Are u aware that Cross was #6? they have 3 losses ,2 bad ones and 1 to a very good career team , Cross has a ton more talent than x,, for some reason they do not play to their strength, they play SLOW. If they were allowed to attack the defense and press with the athletes they have ,things would be different.

  4. jay says

Yea pemberton is def a d1 athlete . He and Jackson were the only ones who.scored. check the box score. What do you want 25+ a game? Cross isn’t ranked but their losses were to prep and.hillhouse and.career I think. All top 5 teams ct. Either way that is a game x needs to win..

  5. James says

D2 are you nuts. Clearly you don’t know bbsll. D1 easily for Pemberton He clearly was not well yestyrday. Once he’s back to 100 percent. All wil be good in x land. How awful is cross coaches Oh lord is he bad.

  6. xfan2 says

I disagree even though yesterday he looked sluggish. From what I seen is that Xavier has no real ball players who lack fundamentals. Can one player carry the whole team for a whole season? I don’t know. I also see how selfish Thomas is. At least when Pemberton plays hard he makes everyone better. Pemberton is d1 when focussed.

    • Dante says

You really need to get off Pemberton’s jock. You evidently don’t know anything about basketball. Thomas had 12 points in the first half and in the second half Pemberton wouldn’t even let him bring the ball up the court so he could shoot. If a player has an advantage the team should utilize it, if they had they probably would have won the game. How can he make anyone better when he shoots 75% of the teams shots.

  7. wilton davis says

Why do you say the Cross coach is bad?, I think he is inexperienced with boy’s basketball. Coached girls previously. huge difference if you have skilled players . if you can respond.

  8. James says

He’s bad because all the above As a coach you need to put a stamp on your team. And identity of sorts. He is sll over the place with his strategy. The talent on that team is incredible snd everyone knows there not going any where Also his attitude on the sideline is a joke. He is a mess. Hence why he won’t last.

  9. wilton davis says

Wow !! I did not realize the waste of talent was obvious to every one. From 1 -8 they have the most talent in the state, they have a skilled quick big (who is used totally incorrectly), 2 strong defensive players, 2 of the best scorers in the state. 3 reserves who are skilled. What kind of offense do they run? slow it up predictable,U PRESS on defense, and u push the ball at every opportunity ,putting the opponents defense at a disadvantage, once u get a decent lead then run offense. they do not execute well enough for that to be their only offensive option. waste of talent.

  10. jay says

I agree w James. Why is everyone bashing x back court? Cross went a triangle and 2 on penberton and Jackson and they still had 18 and 17 . No one else scored. Jackson hit a couple bigs with wide.open looks at a layup and they didn’t finish. 1 of the best back courts in ct. Also agree w comment that not just 1player can win each game for a team. Not backcourts fault that no one else scored for x. Again those games which r close and.teams like cross x needs to win to be considered as a legit team

  11. ct hoops says

Xavier guards are very good I think. Maybe not the best in the entire state but one of the best for sure.also brendan McPherson is very talented they will be fine and improve a lot as year goes on.

  12. ct hoops says

Cross is a good team. William- bey and gleaming r good and they have a couple big strong, physical big guys. Why do they play L in tourney though? Hillhouse is L but they play up (‘LL) in ball each year.
