Thursday’s New Haven County Softball Roundup: Goodwin Tech, O’Brien Tech combine for 71 runs

Natalia Dudzinski had a triple, Priscilla Velez and Yarimar Gonzalez both had doubles for Goodwin Tech in a 39-32 Constitution State Conference victory over O’Brien Tech in Ansonia .

Both teams combined for 71 runs on only 38 hits. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, 71 is tied for the seventh most runs scored by both teams combined.

The national record, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations, is 95 set in California in 2011.

Goodwin Tech’s highest scoring inning was 11 in the fifth and O’Brien Tech’s was 10 in the third.

Jill Cowell had two triples and Rachel Krystopowitz had four hits for O’Brien Tech (0-3) in the loss to Goodwin Tech (1-3).

Hamden Hall 18, Convent of the Sacred Heart 6 >> Taylor Manfredi had five hits and four RBIs to lead the Hornets to their prep school win in Greenwich.

Katie Daily had four hits including a two-run double and Maria Kozdroy added four hits including a two-run homer for the Hornets (3-2).

No. 1 Masuk 2, Lauralton Hall 1 >> Pitcher Tatum Buckley hurled a no-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Panthers to their South-West Conference win in Monroe.

Stef Appelberg had a game-winning, two-run homer for the Panthers (5-1) in the fifth inning. Alexa Dawid led Lauralton Hall with a walk, four stolen bases and a run.

No. 10 Seymour 7, Kennedy 1 >> Raeanne Geffert tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts for Seymour in a Naugatuck Valley League home win.

Katie Petroski had four hits, including a home run, and two RBIs, for the Wildcats (4-1). Kennedy dropped to 2-3.

Sheehan 9, North Haven 5 >> Sara Pisanelli went 3-for-3 scored two runs and had an RBI for Sheehan in a Southern Connecticut Conference interdivision win at Wallingford.

Meghan Gavin went 2-for-3, scored twice and had three RBIs for the Titans (5-0). Rachel Giatrelis went 3 for 4 and had two RBIs for North Haven.

WEST HAVEN 8, LYMAN HALL 3 >> Madison Watts had two doubles and two RBIs and Kial Watts had two hits, two RBIs and two runs for the visiting Westies in this SCC interdivision win in Wallingford.

Amber Bonewicz had a single, two doubles, a run and an RBI for West Haven (2-2).
