A.J. Ventura singled in Pete Grippo in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the East Haven baseball team past Branford 9-8 in the continuation of a Southern Connecticut Conference Oronoque Division game in East Haven Thursday.

The game resumed after the misapplication of an unreported substitution rule would’ve have given East Haven an 7-5 win on Monday. Instead, a bases-clearing double put Branford up 8-7 when it resumed.

Nick Lamberti, Mike D’Angelo and John Kikosicki all doubled and Kikosicki added a triple for the Yellow Jackets (4-3, 2-1). Alex King hit a two-run home run for the Hornets (3-4, 2-1).

Sheehan 6, Law 1 >> Zach Hart went the distance on a four-hitter for Sheehan in a SCC interdivision win at Wallingford.

Brandon Gauthier had a two-run home run and Chris Gerzabek added a two-run single for the Titans (6-3). Rich Dow took the loss for the Lawmen (7-2).
