Naugatuck Valley League

The Naugatuck Valley League, centered in Waterbury where five of the 14 schools are located, is wholly made up of 14 schools located in the Naugatuck River Valley. The league expanded from 12 to 14 schools in 2009 and features two divisions of seven teams titled the Brass and Copper Divisions.

Thursday’s Star Katie Koshes, Amity softball: She hit a two-out, three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Spartans a 3-0 win over Sheehan. Koshes went 4-for-4 at the plate and also pitched all nine innings, striking out 10 while scattering seven hits. VOTE for Friday’s STAR until Saturday, 9 p.m.
