At some point don’t these teams (Hamden, Xavier, WH) have to beat the better teams to stay in top 10 or in the hunt? Are there really only 10 teams in the state worthy of top 10? I mean at least a couple of those 1 or 2 loss teams can be in there somewhere. Hamden loses 6-0 and 9-2. That’s a top 10 team? At least keep the score close please.

  2. Jim says

Yes msg. Notre dame and darien don’t play any out of state teams. Congratulations to darien for beating trinity catholic..Notre dame and darien beating Glastonbury…that’s a joke. mean while prep is actually going out and playing good teams and giving then a run for there money. Like the tie against Don Bosco, the win against la salle, the overtime game against bishop Hendrickson! you can base a poll on only there record. look at the differences in competition

      • Jim says

Yes, I know, and they lost 4-0 to bishop, while prep lost 4-3 in overtime, and nd struggled to beat la salle. prep has 6 out of state teams in there schedule. If you are trying to argue that Notre dame, darien or any Connecticut team has a tougher schedule then prep, then you are out of your mind. Polls cannot only be based on a teams record. if it was, then teams like cardinal Hayes or even prep would be considered better then Lincoln in basketball, when lincholn plays a much tougher schedule just as prep does in hockey.

    • The Dude says

Jim you should pay attention. Darien has already beaten Prep this year. The Wave have beaten Prep and ND. They should be number 1 at least for the time being.

  3. gobballfan says

Prep, St Joes, NDWH, Xavier are turning into “prep schools” in all sports. As much as I hate to say it, they should be playing in leagues with Hamden Hall, Hopkins, Choate, etc.

there is also GIRLS hockey in this state and especially in this area – i understand it’s not as good as boys hockey in alot of people’s eyes but alot of young ladies work their butts off for the love of the game and in some cases – towns pulled together to make sure girls could also play – maybe nice to shed some light and acknowledg them also.

Francine…Dan Nowak has had notes on both the Hamden and Amity-North Haven-Cheshire girls hockey teams in the first month of the season and Samantha Cozzolino is our female athlete of the week this week. So we are indeed shedding somelight on girls hockey in the Greater New Haven area. Thank you.
