Meeker also hit the two-run single in the seventh inning to the game then hit the game-winning single in the eighth to win the game for Shepaug. Meeker finished the game with three RBI’s. Terryville’s Ian Schmidt had two RBI’s. Terryville is 3-4, Shepaug is 2-4.
Thomaston 12, Litchfield 3 >> Thomaston earned its fifth victory of the season by defeating Litchfield at home. The Golden Bears starting pitcher Frank Romanelli picked up the victory and also drove in two runs from the plate. Matt Tehan had three doubles and three RBI’s. Thomaston’s Dan Lavassuer also had three RBI’s. The Cowboys’ Josh Gulimart and Nick Ganio each had an RBI in the loss. Thomaston is 5-0, Litchfield is 1-3.
Platt Tech 8, Wolcott Tech 7 >> Wolcott Tech let a late lead slip through its fingers Monday afternoon against Platt Tech. The Wildcats took a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning but Platt scored four runs in the bottom of the frame to win the game. Wolcott Tech’s Jeff Negron picked up the loss. Platt Tech’s Jimmy Coury earned the victory. Platt Tech is 2-4, Wolcott Tech is 0-2.
Lewis Mills 12, Gilbert 8 >> Lewis Mills held off a late rally by Gilbert to earn its third victory of the season. The Spartans’ Jesse Kristy picked up the victory. Justin Gallicchio had a home run in the victory with two RBI’s. Max Waddington had two doubles. Gilbert’s Tim Smith and Roger Aiudi recorded two RBI’s each. Lewis Mills is 3-2, Gilbert is 1-2.
Derby 7, Torrington 6 (9) >> Derby took down Torrington in nine innings. Derby’s Tyler Bottino picked up the victory. Bottino also hit two home runs and drove in three runs. Torrington’s Jason Vinisko picked up the loss. Derby is 4-2, Torrington is 1-5.
Thomaston 20, Litchfield 0 (5) >> Thomaston cruises past Litchfield Monday afternoon. The Golden Bears pounded out 13 runs in the fourth inning. Morgan Sanson picked up the victory, pitching three innings and striking out six. Sanson also drove in two runs from the plate Sam Laone finished the last two innings, striking out two. Sam Brostek drove in three runs. Gabby Hurlbert recorded two RBI’s. Litchfield’s JJ Polityka pitched all five innings for the Cowgirls, striking out one.
Lewis Mills 10, Gilbert 0 >> Behind a strong first inning, Lewis Mills defeated Gilbert. The Spartans’ Amy Powers pitched a complete game striking out 10 in the win. Karlie Neuhausser went 3-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored. Jordan Perzan went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Gina Daniele went 1-for-3 with a triple.
