The CCC tournament hockey semifinals and the SCC/SWC Division II semifinals are Thursday night.

The SCC/SWC Division III and Division I championships are Friday night.

DIVISION I – UPDATE: ND-Fairfield wins title 5-2

• Who: No. 1 Notre Dame-Fairfield (15-4-1) vs. No. 2 Notre Dame-West Haven (13-5-1)
• When: Friday, 6 p.m.
• Where: Bennett Rink, West Haven

• How Newtown got here: The Nighthawks defeated Sheehan 5-2 in the semifinals.
• How New Fairfield/Immaculate got here: The Rebels defeated Masuk 5-2 in the semifinals.
• Why Newtown will win: Because it is one of the few Division III teams in the state that boasts three very strong lines.
• Why New Fairfield/Immaculate will win: Because it has one of the top defenses in Division III led by two goalies.
• Did you know?: Both teams played close games in the regular season with Newtown winning 1-0 in OT and the teams playing to a scoreless tie in their second meeting.

DIVISION II

• Who: No. 1 Branford (16-4-1) vs. No. 3 Amity (14-7)
• When: Saturday, 2 p.m.

• Why Branford will win: One of the team’s basic goals is to take an early lead and build on it. Branford led 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of its semifinal win over Cheshire.
• Why Amity will win: The Spartans have the advantage of playing at Bennett Rink, their home ice.
• Did you know?: Amity defeated Branford 3-2 in the teams’ only meeting during the regular season. That game was played at Bennett Rink.
