2013 Connecticut High School Football Playoffs Class LL

Comments

  1. P-Daddy says

Newtown, NFA, Prep, and West Haven advance. Prep will beat Gbury by 14 and West Haven will roll Hall by 21. I saw Hall talk smack two years ago before getting beat up physically by Newtown in lopsided loss (more lopsided than the score). BUt for their cupcake CCC schedule, they don’t belong. WH is much better. Gbury is somewhat of a mystery, but their offense is one dimensional and too easy to stop for a sophisticated Prep team that is red-hot. Southington is also overrated given their cupcake CCC schedule, but they have balance on both sides of ball. THey have best chance of any CCC team.
Newtown vs. Prep in the finals.

  2. GHS fan says

@P-Daddy- your remarks show your ignorance. One dimensional- ok. If you can’t stop the pass then why run? Two many weapons and the coaching staff is finally starting to use all their talent on the field. Not to mention if Fairfield prep can’t pass they are toast. Watch and be amazed – because you have not watched a defensive team like g-Bury play.

By the way take a look at how FFP and WH did against Chesire- then compare what Southington did to them – this is the only comparison I have to show the ability of that particular CCC team. USE Thoughtful analysis instead of inserting your biases into the conversation. Let me guess the JV was playing when Cheshire scored against the SCC’s best. Only FFP pitched a shut out and it’s still ten points less than Southington.

    CHESHIRE (4-7-0)
    (15) at Ridgefield L 14-17
    (27) West Haven L 20-48
    (11) Daniel HandL 24-35
    (25) at Ffld.PrepL 0-26
    (1) at ND-WHL 0-28
    (28) Southington L 6-38

What’s my point? These teams will not be able to contain GBury’s offense.

G-bury- played three current playoff teams. They played and defeated LL and L runner ups from last year. cupcake schedule. ok because it’s not the SCC.

    • SCC fan says

speaking of ignorance, you compare what the teams did against Cheshire when Prep had all starters out after the 1st series in the 3rd qt. No need to win by 40 when Cheshire was clearly overmatched and why not give the other guys a chance to run and throw on offense when they probably would not get a chance with the rugged Prep schedule.

  3. Boss Man says

Why isn’t there a SCC and CCC cross over schedule. Hand vs Middletown. Glastonbury vs west haven. Xavier vs southington. Platt vs hill house. That would be something to watch.

  4. GHS fan says

    @JB
yeah, they did. They beat GHS last year in regular season and then GHS smashed them in the playoffs. Two games split. The point though was SHS needed a fluke play to win (both games they won) but SHS beat a cheshire team pretty good that has put up quite a few points on your SCC elite. So to assume any of your teams would beat GHS handily is presumptuous.

    • P-Daddy says

Gbury was lucky to beat Hall. Converted on 3rd and 24 with less than 2 in regulation and then benefitted from bad punt in OT. But, it will all be settled next Tuesday when Prep forces Ollie to be a pocket passer. We’ll see – we’ll see. Anyway, now that “Xavier” is out of your way, let’s see if Gbury can live up to their one fan’s hype.

      • stat dude says

GBury tied Hall with 2:30 to go in a see-saw game. Then GBury blocked a Hall punt and scored on the ensuing drive. If you can’t get your facts right, you shouldn’t be commenting.

  5. says

ghs is a embarrased fciac fan, dont mind him—hes a big max prep guy,ya know, the people who crowned new caanan best team in new england. prep and perennial chokers from west haven have long trips—note to kovalski—–dont get dwi—-i got friends in the joint

    • P-Daddy says

you are correct, but it was 2 very lucky TDs in the last couple minutes. It was GHS’s second game of the year and Hall’s first. It showed as Hall made silly mistakes. THey looked the more explosive and talented team. To be sure GHS won and that is all that matters. Just saying — I don’t think you want to face them again.

      • ct-hs-footballfan says

Dont judge the gbury hall game. gbury had injuries, and 5 players playing new defensive positions. but then again one would not know that from the other part of the state. gbury also found its running game over the last 4 weeks, so no hall would not compete with them the second time around and dont judge teams by scores and write ups. gbury vs prep may be the best game off LL. both teams are very good.

  6. Coach Kay says

I’m sure Glastonbury is a solid team, but have fun stopping Crowle and Smith. Xavier’s OL dominated Prep’s DL but their D could not stop Colton Smith. Prep will not need to pass to win. On to a rematch with WH in the semi-finals

  7. Ram fan says

I would not judge anyone by how they played against Cheshire. This program has seen a steady decline post Ecke era. Wonder when they’ll pick up the phone and beg him to come back? I’ve been a Cheshire fan for many years & this is the worst I’ve ever seen. It’s too bad. Anyway… I say Newtown takes all.

  8. Rob (On Connecticut's East Coast) says

    East Coast Rob’s Picks

    Quarter Finals
    Newtown over Ridgefield
    NFA Over Southington
    Glastonbury over Fairfield Prep
    West Haven over Hall

    Semi Finals
    NFA over Newtown
    West Haven over Glastonbury

    Finals
    West Haven over NFA

  9. jeb says

I would be shocked if Ridgefield won a game in the playoffs. The last time they won a big game teddy Roosevelt was the President.
