Class LL baseball: Southington rallies past Warde, returns to state final

BRISTOL >> Ryan DeAngelo was 3-for-3 with two RBIs as Southington rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat FCIAC champion Fairfield Warde,

Southington trailed 4-1 after two innings. But Drew Farkas had three RBIs in the fourth inning during the comeback. He scored the go-ahead run by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning and DeAngelo brought home the eventual winning run in the sixth with his second RBI double of the game.

Farkas also battled through early troubles and earned the victory in relief of starter Joseph Rivera. Nick Nardone took the loss for Fairfield Warde.

This is Southington’s second-consecutive appearance in the state final and third in four seasons. Once again, it’ll face Amity, a 3-0 winner over Simsbury, for the state championship. The Blue Knights lost to Amity 4-0 in last year’s Class LL title game.

Giacomo Brancato had a triple and two RBIs.
