There are several coaching vacancies in boys basketball, most of those in the southwest portion of the state.

Masuk, Bethel and Oxford are all open in the South-West Conference.

Greenwich just opened up as longtime coach Bill Brehm resigned, first reported by the Stamford Advocate, this week after leading the Cardinals to their best season in school history.

In other news, guard Ryan Murphy will transfer from Fairfield Prep to Wilbraham & Monson in Wilbraham, Mass. The news on Murphy, a Westport resident who missed most of last season with a high ankle sprain, will reclassify as sophomore and graduate in 2017.

The move was first reported by @NE_Playaz on Twitter Friday.

What a surprise that Murphy is leaving! To all you prep parents and supporters who said I didn’t know what I was talking about. I told you so. It didn’t take a genius to know this was coming. Let’s see how good the coach is now that he loses a D1 center, a very good point guard, and like him or not, a very player in Ryan.

gobbalfan, thanks for the kind (i think) comment. I really enjoyed my time at prep and we were 51-4, certainly helped having paschal there and he has everything to do with that record. WMA was both basketball and academics. We play in the NEPSAC league which is really good competition, along with playing monteverde, and a variety of other high level tournaments. The team is quite strong and I will be able to play the pg role. If you would like to reach out to me follow me on twitter @ryanmurphhoop and we can DM. Thanks again Murph

It is a basketball decision more than academic. He was able to reclassify at this prep school.

Ter thanks for your well wishes..I am still 16 will be 17 during the school year. Yup a bit old, but it was a big issue sitting out the entire year with the ankle. Instead of doing a post grad year, I decided to do it now. if you would like to dm me hit me on twitter. Murph
