Just two days ago, we watched Xavier’s Jackson Benigni put an end to Guilford’s unbeaten season by canning an insane 3-point shot at the buzzer to cap a wild, 63-60 victory on Tuesday night.
We can’t say we’ve seen that particular brand of big shot before, at least not in the four-year history of GameTimeCT.com.
So, what do you think the odds were of that exact same scenario happening again… in the same week? …From virtually the same spot on the floor?
As it turns out, pretty good.
Not only did New London’s Gio Lopez duplicate the shot and the scenario Thursday night, he might have one-upped Benigni with this *insane* winner after racing over the midcourt line in a 64-61 victory over unbeaten Prince Tech.
(Heh, it was almost the exact same score, too).
BUZZER BEATER ALERT!

And you can check out the reverse view, below by the always reliable @MakeItRain22 — who seems to be in on every big buzzer beater this season. (No, we don’t know how he’s this prescient).

Cue bedlam at center court for the New London faithful. The Whalers improved to 13-4. Prince Tech fell to 14-1.
First Begnini and now Lopez. Did we just start a statewide H-O-R-S-E competition?
Does Begnini now get a three-quarter court shot to beat — I don’t know, East Catholic or something — in response?
As Lopez proved, anything feels possible now.
This has been another thrilling episode of #TweetYourBuzzerBeaters.
