Fairfield Prep’s Drew Thompson won the New England cross country championship Saturday in Belfast, Maine.
Thompson, who won in a blistering time of 15:16.66, was one of 10 Connecticut runners to finish in the Top 15.
Joining Thompson in the top 10 were Cheshire’s Brendan Murray (3rd, 15:52), Staples’ Benjamin Seiple (5th, 15:53.16), Shelton’s Robert Dillon (6th, 15:54.51), Staples’ Christian Myers (7th, 15:56.47), Canton’s Maximillian Sparks (9th, 16:00.81).
Xavier’s Dillon Selfors (12th, 16:02), Owen Curran (13th, 16:02), Peter Schulten (30th, 16:19) and William Curran (31st, 16:20) led the Falcons to the boys team title. Xavier scored 74 points. Staples was second with 103.
Fairfield Warde (6th), Fairfield Prep (7th), Haddam-Killingworth (8th) and Hall (9th) also finished in the Top 10.
