TORRINGTON >> Torrington’s swimming team emerged from a meet full of split-second decisions with a 95-73 win over Watertown Wednesday night at the Torrington YMCA.
Torrington finished one, two in the 200-yard medley relay by seconds and JT Barth kept it up in the 200-yard freestyle by two seconds, but the time fractions began to split in the next two races.
Watertown’s Henry Raidhis won the 200 Individual Medley by .10 second, then Torrington’s Viktor Nemsvari came even closer in the 50, winning by .01 second.
Nemesvari and Barth both won again for the Red Raiders. Bailey Clark added a 100-yard backstroke win. Barthy, Michael Galan, Jackson Keller and Nemesvari won again in the 200-yard freestyle relay to finally put the Raiders over the top.
Noah DeFelice won the 500 freestyle for Watertown.
Lewis Mills 89, Gilbert 48 >> The Spartans scored 33 points in the third quarter at The Gilbert School to finally pull away from the Yellowjackets.
Josh Schibi and Kyle Alvarez each had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Alvarez added 4 assists and 4 steals. Joe Neary had 10 points.
The Spartans are 11-1; Gilbert is 1-9.
Terryville 54, Wolcott Tech 31 >> The Kangaroos (6-5) climbed over the .500 mark at Terryville High School in their fifth straight win. Shawn Iwanow had 15 points, 11 rebounds; Mike Miscia added 10 points among the Kangaroos’ nine scorers.
Nick Barney scored 13 for the Wildcats.
Wilcox Tech 47, Wolcott Tech 32 >> Samantha Petro (17 points) and Laura Cruz (12) led the Indians at Wolcott Tech.
Katiusca DeLaCruz had 16 points, 15 rebounds for the Wildcats. Madison Rubino added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Indians are 6-6; Wolcott Tech is 2-9.
Lewis Mills 48, Gilbert 27 >> Samantha Chadwick (13), Gabby Bagdonas (13) and Samira Abdelrehim (12) led the Spartans at home.
Nonnewaug 42, Derby 33 >> Benjamin Niez-Charest, Mason Abraham, Justin Noel, Nickolas Sordi and Steve Grudzien had pins for the Chiefs at Nonnewaug.
Chris Oliwa, Josh Dana and Andreas Garcia had pins for the Red Raiders.
